George A. Giotis, B.S. 1949, president of Flashing Handling Corp. in Depew, NY, has been named 1999 Engineer of the Year by the UB Engineering Alumni Association. The award is given to alumni who have set themselves apart in alumni, community, business and professional activities.

John J. Gmerek, B.A. 1949, whose membership in the American Legion began with the Adam Plewacki Post in Buffalo, NY, was honored with a 50-year continuous membership certificate at an installation of officers and awards banquet sponsored by the Legion’s Continental Post #1424 in Forest Hills, NY. He also received citations from members of the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly who were present at the ceremony.
