1930s Classnotes
Kenneth H. Eckhert Sr., M.D. 1935 & B.A. 1931, received the 1997 Clara Barton Volunteer of the Year Award from the Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross. His involvement with the Red Cross began in 1958 as a surgeon with the blood medical advisory group. Elected to the board of directors in 1960, he was a vice chair and served as chapter chair from 1970 to 1973. A Red Cross giving society was named in his honor to recognize major annual donors. In 1995, he was honored as the Red Cross philanthropist of the year.
