The computerized BISON II
When the University Libraries made the transition to computerized bibliographic references several years ago, a contest was held to devise a name for the new system. Several individuals came up with BISON, an acronym for "Buffalo Information System Online."
The recent arrival of BISON II allows users to take advantage of a complex information environment that meshes earlier systems, such as the original BISON, with high-tech capabilities and products‹including such full-text resources as the Britannica and Contemporary Authors. BISON II is actually the collective body of library home pages; the online catalog (formerly BISON); the Health Sciences Library's HUBNET; and various index, abstract/citation/full-text databases.
