James S. Davis, B.S. 1970, is president of Zurn Energy Division, which manufactures power generation equipment in Erie, Pa.

Joan Rubenfeld Liman, B.A. 1970, is the associate dean for student affairs at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark.

Youcef M. Rustum, Ph.D. 1970 & B.A. 1965, has been named vice president for scientific affairs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He is also professor and director of urology research at the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and research professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Cancer Therapeutics.

Andrew D. Hahn, B.A. 1971, of Cooper City, Fla., was promoted to senior vice president, area executive, commercial banking group of Barnett Bank of Broward County.

Douglas Lincoln, B.S. 1971, is professor of marketing at Boise State University, College of Business. Past president of the Western Marketing Educators Association, he currently serves on the board of directors of the Bogus Basin Ski Resort in Boise.

Stephen G. Robertson, B.S. 1971, joined Cooper Industries, power systems division, in Olean, N.Y., as a manufacturing service manager.

Frank B. Endres, M.S.W. 1972, of Williamsville, N.Y., is a therapist at the Wyoming County Mental Health Clinic and a clinician at the county jail.

Frank A. Falk, M.B.A. 1972 & B.S. 1962, retired from his position at Amax Inc. and is currently an instructor at Spartanburg Technical College in Spartanburg, S.C.

Michael D. Garz, B.A. 1972, was named director of operations with STV Architects in Pottstown, Pa., where his responsibilities include project scheduling, staff assignment, service quality and budgeting.

Robert W. Leta, B.S. 1972, of Chesapeake, Va., was recently promoted to ships systems engineer for the Atlantic Surface Fleet and manager of the Intermediate Level Maintenance Facilities, U.S. Navy.

John A. Lupienski, M.S. 1972 & B.A. 1969, is a quality director at Motorola Inc., in Elma, N.Y. He also teaches in UB's Micro MBA Certificate Program.

Joseph Ognibene, M.A. 1972 & B.A. 1969, earned a master's degree in human resources from Washington University in St. Louis in 1994. He is currently working as a corporate manager for McDonnell Douglas.

Jacob Staub, B.A. 1972, academic dean of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Wyncote, Pa., has been honored by the college for helping to promote Reconstructionism and Jewish life.

Mark D. Weiner, B.A. 1972, assumed a new position as managing director of the Continuum Group, O'Donnel, Wichlund, Pigozzi & Peterson Inc., specializing in health-care consulting.

Richard W. Leong, M.S.W. 1973 & B.A. 1970, is a senior counselor for Project Cope at Geneva B. Scruggs Health Care Center in Buffalo.

Stanley Lew, B.S. 1973, was relocated to Greenville, S.C., by Michelin North America Inc., where he continues his work in the product safety department.

Lynn Schwartz Neylan, B.S. 1973, of Dublin, Ohio, is the senior physical therapist for the University of Cincinnati's Center for Occupational Health.

Joseph Michael Parise, B.A. 1973, of Dover, Del., was described in Delaware Today as one of the best family physicians in the state.

James T. Scime, B.A. 1973, of Amherst, N.Y., has been installed as president of the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. His key priority will be to expand public understanding of the trial bar and how the court system is changing.

John Trimbur, M.A. 1973, English professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, is the author of "Writing Instruction and the Politics of Professionalization." The essay appears in Composition in the 21st Century: Crisis and Change, published by Southern Illinois University Press.

Phyllis Ann Clark, B.A. 1974, joined Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Ridgefield, Conn. as a senior medical research associate working on a new drug to treat acute strokes.

Jane Griffin, Ph.D. 1974, of Buffalo, has been elected treasurer of the American Crystallographic Association.

Nobuko Ito Hayata, M.S.W. 1974, is on the academic staff of the NHK Community School in Inage-Ku Chiba, Japan. She writes: "I have always been thankful to UB faculty and classmates for the valuable educational training, and to Mr. & Mrs. Charles Levi for having accepted me as their family member during my stay in Buffalo. Time and tide never change my appreciation to the UB community and the Levi family."

Melodee A. Kushner, B.S. 1974, of Edinboro, Pa., is a physical therapist for the North West Tri-County Intermediate Unit. John Pientka, B.S. 1974, of Atlanta, Ga., joined Ungermann-Bass Networks as senior vice president and general manager of the network services division. Daniel Robert Bieger, B.A. 1975, of Bristol, Tenn., is a partner in the law firm of Copeland, Molinary & Bieger. The firm emphasizes civil litigation representing plaintiffs.

Jesse P. Grossman, M.S.W. 1975, works full-time at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center in the admissions and placement unit, while also teaching part-time in the Buffalo State College department of social work. She also does consulting for home-care agencies and maintains a private practice.

Jeffrey A. Kushner, B.S. 1975, is a neuropharmacologist at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Duane Schielke, B.A. 1975, associate executive director of the United Cerebral Palsy Association, where he oversees the Metropolitan New York Division, has received the Daniel Wieder Award for Professional Leadership.

Stuart J. Siegel, B.S. 1975, is associate vice president in the Sarasota, Fla., office of Dean Witter Reynolds Inc., and cohost of the financial television program, The Educated Investor.

Joseph R. Stetter, Ph.D. 1975 & B.A. 1969, is president of Transducer Research Inc., a maker of chemical sensors for toxic gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide. The sensors are used in instruments to protect public health, for safety alarms in industry and indoor air quality applications.

Carol Wolff Wieser, M.L.S. 1975 & B.A. 1965, retired after 30 years of teaching social studies in Kenmore, N.Y. She hopes to work part-time in the local public library after "taking a well-earned break from routine."

Paul Bilowus, B.A. 1976, is an air pollution control engineer for the Fairfax County Health Department in Virginia.

Jay A. Black, B.A. 1976, Navy Commander, has returned to Norfolk, Va., after completing a six-month overseas deployment to the Adriatic Sea near Bosnia and to the Persian Gulf near Iraq aboard the aircraft carrier USS America.

Jay M. Boyer, Ph.D. 1976 & M.A. 1975, professor of English at Arizona State University, is a winner in the 1995 U.S. Professors of the Year Program, sponsored by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Joseph Curatolo, B.S. 1976, president of Georgetown Capital Group Inc. in Williamsville, N.Y., has been named one of the top ten financial advisors in the United States for the third year in a row.

Dave Kosuda, M.B.A. 1976, of Charlotte, N.C., was promoted to North American banking segment manager by Digital Equipment Corporation, where he is responsible for electronic commerce with banks across the U.S. and Canada.

Mark P. Mack, Ph.D. 1976, is director of Lyondell Petrochemical Co. in Houston, Tex. He is responsible for technical service and product and process research for high-density polyethylene, low-density polyethylene and polypropylene polymers.

Thomas J. Owens, M.A. 1976 & B.A. 1967, of Peekskill, N.Y., is a program manager for environmental affairs at IBM Corp. He is also a colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, where he is involved in the rehabilitation of areas stricken by natural disasters.

Andrew B. Rosengard, B.S. 1976, of Dix Hills, N.Y., was recently appointed senior vice president and controller of Cablevision Systems Corp., where his responsibilities include directing the business planning, financial reporting, accounting and risk management efforts of the company and its subsidiaries.

Dennis J. Badame, M.B.A. 1977 & B.A. 1969, has been named director of purchasing for National Health Care Affiliates Inc., where he will be responsible for purchasing, materials management and a variety of corporate administrative services in support of all company operations.

John Rachow, B.S. 1977, of Strongsville, Ohio, is a technical sales representative for Minnesota Rubber, a manufacturer of critical rubber parts.

Sari Schussel-Leeds, B.A. 1977, is a sales associate and the director of promotion at Siderow Associates, a real estate sales agency in Chappaqua, N.Y.

Burton Speer, M.B.A. 1977 & B.S. 1976, CPA, of Medway, Mass., has been named a partner in the accounting firm of Alexander, Aronson, Finning & Co. P.C., where his duties include heading up the tax department.

Michael R. Wright, J.D. 1977 & B.A. 1974, a partner in the law firm of Levene, Gouldin & Thompson, LLP in Binghamton, N.Y., is coauthor of "Request for Admissions," a chapter in a three-volume publication entitled Commercial Litigation in New York State Courts.

Steven Ascher, Ph.D. 1978, M.S. 1976 & B.A. 1974, of New Britain, Pa., is senior director of prostatistics at IBRD-Rostrum, a consulting firm to the pharmaceutical industry. He also collects Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver memorabilia and has written on that topic for several hobby publications.

Mike G. Brown, Ph.D. 1978, of Westfield, N.J., was named director of technical operations for Castrol, North America, automotive division. He was promoted from his previous position as product development manager.

Martin S. Glass, B.S. 1978, of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., is a patent attorney. He previously lived in California and worked as a software engineer.

Jeffery A. Hunter, M.B.A. 1978, is the principal of Birch & Davis Associates Inc., a management consulting firm in Silver Spring, Md.

Robert M. Okello, Ph.D. 1978, is living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, working for the Economic Commission for Africa as chief of the communications unit in the United Nations' transport, communication and tourism division.

Larry Spinner, B.A. 1978, is the chairman of the department of pediatrics at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Russell Blum, B.S. 1979, has been named sales manager/vice president of the Smith Barney Buffalo office. As head of sales for the Buffalo branch, Blum brings to his new position more than 11 years' experience as a successful financial consultant with the company.

Daniel M. Hamblin, Ph.D. 1979, owns Dan Hamblin and Associates, an economic consulting firm based in Conway, Ark.

John E. Slattery, Ed.D. 1979, is superintendent of Pennridge schools in Pennridge, Pa. He will retire in June after 30 years of public school service.
