Jack Dempsey, B.A. 1960, of Grand Island, N.Y., has been chairman of the science department at LaSalle Senior High School for nine years; a football, basketball and track team coach for 16 years; and a science instructor for the Niagara Falls Board of Education for the past 36 years.

David Burgdorf, B.A. 1962, an Episcopal priest ordained in 1969, is pastoral counselor at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., and chaplain of the Third Order (Anglican) Franciscans in the United States.

Stan Kolassa, B.S. 1962, retired to Coronado, Calif., following 33 years of service with the U.S. Navy and the Department of Defense.

Lawrence N. Smith, Ed.M. 1962, vice president for university marketing and student affairs at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, has received the Distinguished Service to the Profession Award from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, Region IV-East.

Donald W. Reinfurt, M.A. 1963, deputy director of the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center, has been named to the Motor Vehicle Safety Research Advisory Committee by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Federico Peņa.

James R. Golding, B.A. 1965, is a manager at the Franklin Traffic Service, a foreign transportation consultation firm in the Buffalo area. He is also active with the UB Alumni Association's legislative committee.

Delwyn G. Arnold, B.S. 1966, has retired from GTE as project manager after 35 years of service. He is enjoying his free time pursuing hobbies, exploring the Internet, working as a volunteer for community organizations, and participating in town and state Republican committees.

Ed Baron, B.A. 1966, of Oakton, Va., recently formed Ed Baron & Associates, providing consulting, training and executive education services to the newspaper industry, his field for more than 15 years.

Maryanne L. Mather, B.S. 1966, of Tonawanda, N.Y., has worked for the UB School of Dental Medicine since graduating from UB. She is currently coordinator of the Center for Dental Studies.

Lois J. Zachary, B.A. 1966, of Phoenix, Ariz., is principal of Leadership Development Services, an adult education firm that offers coaching and consulting in leadership, organizational effectiveness and corporate board functioning.

Fredric H. Fischer, J.D. 1967, of Chicago, Ill., current management cochair of the American Bar Association's subcommittee on practice and procedure before the National Labor Relations Board, has been named a management member of the NLRB's advisory committee on agency procedure.

Robert B. Moriarty, J.D. 1968, a senior partner of Moriarty & Dee in Buffalo, was elected chairman of the board of trustees of Nardin Academy, also in Buffalo.

Donald B. Eppers, J.D. 1969, of Orchard Park, N.Y., has been installed as vice president and president-elect of the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. He specializes in insurance and negligence litigation with Brown & Kelly, Buffalo.

Patricia A. Huber, B.S. 1969, has been employed since 1986 as the total ozone mapping spectrometer flight assurance manager at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.

Kathy Langen, B.A. 1969, of Batavia, N.Y., received a Blue Ribbon Award from the Southern Poetry Association for her poem, "My forget-me-nots." Another poem, "Afghan," has been selected to appear in a special edition of the Southern Poetry Review.

Paul Mann, B.A. 1969, is employed by the New York State Department of Social Services, where his responsibilities include the inspection and licensing of daycare facilities and the maintenance of the regional office computer system.

Robert J. Russell, B.S. 1969, Buffalo regional director for the New York State Department of Transportation, received the Government Civil Engineer of the Year Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers, Buffalo Section.

Wendy M. Schwartz, B.A. 1969, is a production advisor for Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty in Prague, Republic of Czechoslovakia.
