Gerald E. Powers, M.S.W. '67, a treatment team leader at West Seneca Developmental Center, has won the Alumnus of the Year award from the School of Social Work Alumni Association.
During a distinguished thirty-year career, Powers has been described by colleagues as "conscientious, reliable, responsible, pleasant to work with, humorous, productive, community-minded, caring and loyal." He is active on the alumni board, where he has served as membership chair and treasurer.
Scholarship awards went to Rhonda Mays for her work at Buffalo Coalition for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and to William Sabado for his work at Erie County Intensive Case Management.
